AB Mauri Fleischmann’s Sponsors National Sportsmanship Awards

(Chesterfield, Missouri… October 26, 2009) AB Mauri Fleischmann’s salutes the nation’s most respected athletes and sports personalities at one of the most meaningful and inspiring nights in sports – the AT&T National Sportsmanship Awards. AB Mauri Fleischmann’s is sponsoring the event to demonstrate its ongoing support for causes that enhance the quality of life.

Hosted annually by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the Citizenship Through Sports Alliance, the AT&T National Sportsmanship Awards honors athletes and personalities from around the United States for their integrity, class, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, community service and overall commitment to sportsmanship. This year’s award event takes place on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri.

“Good sportsmanship starts with doing the right thing and setting an example for others. The athletes awarded through this program are role models for all of us, including those of us in business,” said Greg Strauss, vice president of sales and marketing, AB Mauri Fleischmann’s. “We are proud to sponsor this national event that takes place in our hometown of St. Louis.”

The AT&T National Sportsmanship Awards is the signature event of the St. Louis Sports Commission’s Sportsmanship Initiative. By recognizing outstanding individuals who set a high standard with their approach on and off the field, the organization hopes to set the tone for all parents, coaches and fans to be “good sports” and to pass those values on to children in the community. It’s the Sports Commission’s goal to make St. Louis a model community for good sportsmanship and home to America’s best sports. AB Mauri Fleischmann’s is a member company of the St. Louis Sports Commission at the bronze partner level.

The Citizenship Through Sports Alliance (CTSA) is the single largest coalition of professional, collegiate, and high school athletics organizations in the United States, focused on character in sport. Honorees at this year’s awards ceremony will include the following CTSA member organizations: Major League Baseball, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, National Association for Sport and Physical Education, NCAA, National Federation State High School Associations and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
